The New Israel Fund views the recent decision by Israel’s High Court with respect to the Boycott Law as a setback for civil liberties in Israel and as a boon to Israel’s detractors.

NIF opposes boycotts of Israel and the global BDS movement. We will not fund organizations that have global BDS programs. Nevertheless, we are concerned about the damage this decision will inflict on freedom of speech, including a possible chilling effect. We hope that the court will revisit the issue in the future.

Tragically, by lumping calls for boycotts of settlements with calls for boycotts of Israel, this legislation helps Israel’s detractors, who see no difference between Israel’s legitimacy and that of the occupation.
