The New Israel Fund and its action arm, Shatil, are proud to have worked with the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) developed by the US State Department on issues of women’s empowerment and leadership training.  One program helped empower Bedouin women to address issues in their community, including honor killings and polygamy. Another trains MEPI alumni as leaders who have addressed such issues as breast cancer among Arab women and incubating technology programs for employment.

Shatil is among the most well-respected capacity-building and training organizations in Israel. Our selection as a MEPI partner is just one more validation of the key role NIF/Shatil plays in enabling positive social change and empowering marginalized communities.
