NIFC is entering an exciting phase of growth. Building on the success of fundraising efforts over the past few years, the organization is expanding its team to realize its potential and further strengthen its core base. Founded in 1986, we are a non-religious, non-political organization. Based inToronto, NIFC is a national organization with outreach in all major urban centres acrossCanada.

Primary Purpose of Job: The NIFC Development Associate will support the fundraising program based out of NIFC's office. The Development Associate will report to the NIFC Executive Director.

 

You will work with a motivated team to make a direct impact on NIFC's success and expansion. You will be a critical part of our development strategy. Your energy and enthusiasm will be matched by a fluency in cultivation efforts and fundraising skills. Your previous experience will demonstrate your skills in developing and implementing national campaigns, working closely with volunteers, launching grassroots fundraising efforts, and managing donor data. You will be comfortable in a small and fast-paced environment, eager to have a direct impact on NIFC's capacity to achieve its mission.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Community Building

 

  • Develop and manage regional donor fundraising programs.
  • Assist Executive Director in managing and coordinating volunteers.
  • Develop social media campaign for local and national donor outreach.

 

Fundraising

 

  • Help to develop and implement a multi-tiered annual fundraising strategy.
  • Support Executive Director in all donor fundraising activities, including donor events, preparing for fundraising calls and meetings, prospect research.
  • Manage all logistics for local fundraising events. Create and mail invites; manage response lists and all logistics relating to programs; develop and implement programming ideas to reach current donors and prospects.
  • Develop marketing strategies to help attract a diverse group of donors
  • Cultivate individual, corporate, and institutional donors, including grantwriting and proposal preparation.
  • Liaise with fundraising committee members across Canada.
  • Respond to donor inquiries and requests for assistance.
  • Manage donor records and data.
  • Periodically conduct analysis and impact reports on fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Board through the Executive Director on all fundraising efforts.
  • Familiarity with and strong commitment toIsrael, social justice, and NIF's mission. Willingness to represent NIFC in the community.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Proven fundraising experience with all tiers of donors within small- to mid-size charities.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with fundraising experience within the Jewish community
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Creativity in both program development and problem solving. 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and projects. 
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge strongly preferred. 
  • Experience using social media tools to support fundraising and program planning.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education. 
  • Travel will be required within Canada to support activities

 Volunteer Communications Coordinator

 

The New Israel Fund of Canada is looking for a Volunteer Communications Coordinator to help expand our marketing and communications efforts nationwide. Building partnerships and developing relationships with a wide range of organizations are essential for our long-term growth plans.

Communications Coordinator will play a critical role in our communications efforts. The Coordinator will gain valuable experience in:

project management
data mining and research and
networking with an established charity.

The individual will interact with many non-profit professionals and social activists. The position will offer exposure to marketing, communications, public relations, and fundraising.

The New Israel Fund of Canada supports projects and programs inIsraelthat strengthen and safeguard civil and human rights, bridge social and economic gaps, and foster tolerance and religious pluralism for all of its citizens. It helps advance the development ofIsraelas a Jewish and democratic state as envisioned in her Declaration of Independence.
For almost 30 years, NIFC has worked with its partner the New Israel Fund helping hundreds of grass-roots Israeli organizations. Its activities have included project funding, capacity building, leadership development and coalition building.

Job Title: Communications Coordinator

Location: 801 Eglinton Avenue West, Suite 401

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both online and phone research to identify Canadian organizations for potential partnership
  • Cultivate new relationships with potential partners nationwide
  • Serve as ambassador for NIFC to thousands of schools, organizations, synagogues, and community centres nationwide
  • Collect contact data for each organization
  • Ensure accuracy of data
  • Transfer all data to Raisers Edge and Constant Contact
  • Conduct phone interviews with prospective organizations

Length of Appointment: This is a 2-3 month position

Time Commitment: Twos days per week for a total of six hours (9-12 am and 1-4 pm), for a minimum of three months.

Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computers and data entry, strong web skills, great attention to detail, patience, dependability, understanding of NIFC including our mission and values, good networking skills

Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition the Outreach and Development Associate will provide guidance and support.
