Come sit with us in a Cole Valley living room, enjoy some delicious snacks, and hear from Shira Wilkof, one of the founders of the Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity Movement -- a grassroots coalition that emerged following the forced eviction of four Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
The Solidarity Movement is a New Israel Fund grantee that works toward civil equality within Israel and an end to the occupation. Shira will speak to the history of the organization, which grew from weekly protests in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood to a movement of hundreds of activists demonstrating principled resistance to anti-democratic trends in Israel. After we hear from Shira we'll have the opportunity to discuss what we've heard together.
