Tel Aviv Municipality Pledges Employment Rights to Cleaners

A senior Tel Aviv Municipality official has promised that all future contracts will contain clauses ensuring employees and employees of subcontractors their full salary and entitlements.

The move came in response to a letter from NIF grantee Kav LaOved - Worker’s Hotline, which drew the municipality’s attention to the fact that many refugees who were subcontracted to undertake cleaning and maintenance work for the city had not been paid their salaries. The municipality said it is now committed to enforce the new contract clauses.
